SUMMARY
The 454 mother/baby pairs in the randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled Swansea Baby Study were assessed for adverse events and the use of Lab4B probiotics was shown to be safe during pregnancy and early infancy.
Aim
The Swansea Baby study evaluated the safety of Lab4B probiotic supplementation in two potentially vulnerable populations – mothers during the last month of pregnancy and their healthy newborn babies during the first six months of life.
